In a Voodoo ceremony gone horribly wrong, 60’s Beach Movie starlet, KAREN SLATER comes back to life as a Mermaid, who each spring must prey on 12 souls to rejuvenate or she dies. Meanwhile, NICK, a college student at Malibu State College, where all the social activities revolve around water, is an outcast, for NICK suffers from HYDROPHOBIA (fear of the water). At a Spring Break Malibu Beach/Pool Party his roommate drags him to, NICK meets the girl of his dreams, KAREN, who reminds him of his 60’s Beach movie crush, KAREN SLATER and it’s love at first sight! But NICK is unaware of KAREN’s ability to morph into a Killer-Mermaid with Piranha sharp teeth, capable of devouring a Man in seconds! Luckily for NICK, he’s immune to the creature’s wrath, for a Mermaid will never kill the Man she loves, for Nick resembles KAREN SLATER’S former Beach Bongos costar & lover, 60’s surfing champ, ROD BIGMAN. In the end, NICK must confront his “Hydrophobia” (fear of water) as he leaps into the water, forced to choose between saving his friends from becoming her next Mermaid meal or destroying the lethal Siren creature, he loves.
