CHAMPLAIN (6x60’)
Docu fiction, Drama
Inspired by a true story
Most everyone is familiar with the name Champlain – lake, bridge, city, park, street – and yet... Yet, most of us know almost nothing about Samuel de Champlain. In school history books of French Quebec – reviewed and corrected by the clergy and never updated – he is barely mentioned as the founder of Quebec City in 1608. His whole title of "Father of New France" is reduced to having founded the oldest European city in North America. It turns out that without his tireless efforts for nearly 35 years, in close collaboration with the Natives, the French presence in America would have been but an anecdote. It is therefore the full scope of a colorful character, worthy of a best-selling cloak and sword novel, that we intend to feature in this historical drama.
